CEO & Founder, Marcus Hays, suggests to then California Governor Schwarzenegger during the State of California's "Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Summit" that the State consider instituting a "Made in California" label so that consumers could be better informed about the virtues associated with domestic California made goods. Virtues that include significantly reduced emissions from processes such as spray painting and metal works that when performed outside of the state are more polluting but also significantly less expensive to produce. If on the other hand, the State made a small investment in educating consumers about the environmental benefits associated with good produced in California, then instead of simply incurring higher costs, manufacturers could pass these higher costs on to discerning shoppers who would willingly pay a premium but who otherwise go unawares.
