• Around three times a day, the glass of the scanning machine must be cleaned as the brittle paper generates so much dust.
• A webcam on a pole points at the back of the scanning machine so that the scanning team can see that the forms haven’t folded back into their creases, causing a jam, as they drop into the collection tray.
• Every image is viewed and checked for quality on screen as they are scanned, and any that are imperfect or blurred have to be rescanned.
