Radio HotBodies #22 - 1/06/09 - Guest: SR388 of Mode7
3 years ago
Yesterday, I was finally able to enjoy & experience this mysterious collective I have been hearing about, making noise all around Los Angeles, and blowin up parties since nineteen nighty nine. It's called Radio Hot Bodies, and it truly is what defines our culture today.
Give me something new & Give it to me now.
After listening to last night's PodCast and previewing this video below - You might ask yourself, how long does something like this take to put together? Well I have two answers for you. 20 Years or 12 Hours.
Josh Boyd and I met after playing various shows in together at our High School Hole in the wall Cafe. We both had grown up spending countless hours in front of a computer incessantly finding new ways to use this grey box we sit in front of to spread our music. We didn't have home studios, we didn't have A&R reps, we didn't even know what an iPod was yet. But we picked up where our DIY forefathers like NOFX & Suicidal Tendencies took off and started a weekly e-newsletter called, "The So-Cal Band Union". Highlighting all the upcoming shows for all the bands in the San Fernando Valley and organizing Special Events and Shows. For years Josh & I would send out those newsletters and build what eventually became a scene packing three to four-hundred kids at a time into this tiny room on Sherman Way in Canoga Park. We soon outgrew the Cobalt Cafe and carried on in various other musical endeavors when finally we came together again on Jan 5th, 2009 in the back room of a house not too unlike the ones we started at in the late 90's. This time, we have quite a different goal in mind. One that cannot yet be fully realized although as I sit here not 12 hours from the time this moment occured... behold a FINISHED Hour-long Radio HotBodies Podcast, and an HD Teaser Video with hi-lights from the evenings session.
Again, this is only the beginning so enjoy more Radio Hot Bodies to come throughout 2009.
