SHOOTING BEAUTY tells the true life story of an aspiring fashion photographer named Courtney Bent whose career takes a life-changing turn when she discovers true beauty hidden inside a facility for people living with extreme cerebral palsy and other disabilities.

When she begins inventing cameras her new friends can use, the photographs expose an unforgettable story that will make you rethink what it means to live with a disability-- and without one.

Absolutely beautiful piece. I hope you are able to find the help you seek for the film. I wish my brother who was handicap could have participated in something as creative and liberating as this project.

I was able to see this film this weekend at the NH Film Festival and it was so touching and joyous! I have been a photographer myself for 20 years now and there was a scene where she was teaching them to make 'hand' prints in the darkroom that to me was so incredible. Whenever I would teach people the 'darkroom' we would invariably always do these.

Thank you guys so much for putting this together!

    Looks like a great documentary.
How old is the footage? It's from the "film days", has it been years in the making?
  • George Kachadorian 1 year ago

As someone who has worked with people with disabilities (photographing them during a summer camp last year - see my related slideshow/video for more details), I can especially appreciate this, because the joy is so recognizable and contagious.
