144. Sumo robots compete at Iowa City West
1 year ago
Students in the the Principles of Engineering class faced off on Wednesday, January 7, 2008, in the annual Robotic Sumo Car Competition at West High School in Iowa City, Iowa. West High and City High students squared off in the competition. The goal of the competition is to out-muscle another sumo car and push it out of a 50-inch diameter ring. This is the second year for the event, part of a new pre-engineering program called Project Lead the Way. About 25 students were involved, but the event featured the best cars from each school. Principles of Engineering is a college credit class, in which students can get credit for Engineering Problem solving 1 at the University of Iowa or Iowa State University if they pass the college credit final.
