I have lived on the 2nd floor of 2 different 3 flat brownstones and done just that with my chrismas tree. Instead of get pine needles all over the apt. and hallway I open the window, look for pedestrians, and then just push it out. I have no video, so you have to just take my word for it. :)

I lived in an apt on the third floor of a building who's trash bin was placed perfectly for us to toss trash bags out the window. I missed a few times.... I blame it on the wind >.>
