mplayer artifacts color smear gonzo macroblocking
11 months ago
This is what the Debian-unstable mplayer looks like rendering an arbitrary MPEG-1 video on my ancient Compaq Armada Pentium MMX 266MHz. It almost mostly keeps up with the bandwidth, but it looks like maybe there's an assumption about color depth and things are wrapping at the macroblock level. Of course, I don't really know what that means, but she is beautiful.
I shot this buy pointing my Flip directly at the monitor while it was playing back full screen. I draw back part-way thru to emphasize that. The re-recording loses MOST of the detail...but the entire friggin screen is colorblocks. The fact that the content is still recognizable is wunderbarz.
