Bangkok, Thailand
On December 28th, supporters of the recently formed "Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship" (DAAD) or "Red shirts" marched 20,000 strong from the "Sanam Luang" staging area to the Thai parliament. They aimed to stall the political process that would legitimize the incoming government by blocking all vehicle access into or out of the parliament compound.
This protest was considered among the red shirts to be their "their turn" to make their voices heard. It was to be their response to the yellow shirted Peoples Alliance for Democracy protests that made headlines by taking over the international airport.
The Red Shirts are made up of mostly farmer, rural residents and the working class while Yellow shirts are mainly urban middle class, white collar workers.
The nations class divisions have never been more evident.
