Village Oblivia is a project of Invernomuto structured in stages. Taken from a nomad village established for the first time in Bologna (Raum, 2008), followed by Forlì (Crisalide, 2008) and in an extended version - thirteen hours, the span of an entire night -, a collection of externally authored contributions on the scanning of performative events, audio and artistic visuals (installations). Their trajectory, through a spontaneous deviation in Milano in the form of a provisional studio/settlement (Oslavia, 2008/2009), joins Netmage 09 by occupying, over a period of three days, a space parallel to the festival. As if it were the ideal village of the imagination, Village Oblivia literally represents another dimension: apparently invisible and entirely secret, while always perceptible and constantly evoked. It is from there, in fact, that two 'gospels' gush, as if they were lava flows of possible communication between worlds: on one hand, an environment that hosts live media in collaboration with the American band Sunburned Hand of the Man, articulated in four channel video; on the other, a dense substrate of sound, music and alchemical potions, diffused uninterruptedly and audible in the interstices of the palimpsest of the festival.
Invernomuto was founded in 2003 by Simone Bertuzzi and Simone Trabucchi, with the collaboration of Davide Barbieri regarding musical matters. Emphasizing on the collapse and subsequent mixture of languages, Invernomuto produces works without a set format such as the editorial project ffwd_mag. Their research ranges from the production of single-channel videos and live-media performance design, to the curating of events and special projects. It’s not possible to speak about Invernomuto without speaking about music: hardcore music, punk, hip-hop, destructured, electronics, more or less dance, heterodox. Extra-occidental, half-caste, inevitably impure, as well. Their musical background is not represented in its visual stereotypes, myths or symbols; Invernomuto is immersed, literally sunk in that territory. From that position, they observe the real and try to interpret it, relaying it with definite images looking for the most crooked events and the most improbable narrations, well-hidden within the folds of the landscape. Landscape, indeed, is Invernomuto’s field of action and motive. There live those signs which Invernomuto records, expands and twists, making them vibrate inside their audio and visual sequences. Invernomuto also conducts research, though not exactly within their artistic work. On the contrary, it’s necessary that they divide these disciplines. That’s why, inexplicably, they stubbornly produce ffwd_mag, probably the most luxurious editorial research on artistic international indisciplines produced in Italy. Invernomuto has participated in many group-shows, international festivals, among them Italian Live Media 04 (Roma, 2004), Domus Circular (Milano, 2005), Cinema Infinito/Never Ending Cinema (Trento, 2006), Netmage 07 (Bologna, 2007, in the occasion of which they created the identity image and the project Bissera), Invisible Miracles (Milan, 2007) and 11th Architecture Biennale (Venezia, 2008, collateral events presenting Perspectives on Archive: Check-In Architecture). In 2006 Invernomuto curated their first solo show: Whalesland at C/O careof (Mi). The ffwd_mag project has been presented in a number of Italian cities. Recently Invernomuto took part to the residency promoted by Dena Foundation for Contemporary Art, Paris, where they presented the installation Fire Makes the House Grow and had their second solo show, Teastas Mor, at Galerie Patricia Dorfmann (Paris, 2008).
Sunburned Hand of the Man is a band-collective based in Boston and New York in existence since 1997, of members superstiti from the Boston punk band Shit Spangled Banner. Sunburned are characterized by not having a fixed formation , recruiting musicians local to where they play. The sound of Sunburned Hand of the Man, considered the front line of a possible trend known as New Weird America, translates into ghosts of lysergic rock, howling improvisations, incomprehensible words decimated in aggressive ecstasy, seeded by whirling and often improbable percussive sequences. The extra-musical elements, in the sonic and performative on-stage ritual, render the show of Sunburned Hand of the Man a freak moment, sarcastic and regressive at the same time. Booked for the most experimental and overlooked festivals on the planet, illuminati with notoriety with the appreciation of Thurston Moore and the production on the part of Four Tet on the recent album Fire Escape, Sunburned Hand of the Man have a dense discography behind them, mainly on Eclipse Records and their own label Manhand.

Village Oblivia è un progetto di Invernomuto strutturato in tappe. Si tratta di un villaggio nomade insediatosi per la prima volta a Bologna (Raum, 2008), in seguito a Forlì (Crisalide, 2008) e giocato sulla durata estesa - tredici ore, l'arco di una notte -, sull'accoglienza di contributi autoriali esterni e sulla scansione di accadimenti performativi, sonori e artistico-visivi (installazioni). La sua traiettoria, attraverso una deviazione spontanea a Milano sotto forma di studio/insediamento provvisorio (Oslavia, 2008/2009), giunge a Netmage 09 abitando, lungo l’arco di tre giorni, uno spazio parallelo del festival. Come fosse il villaggio ideale degli immaginari, Village Oblivia rappresenta letteralmente un’altra dimensione: apparentemente invisibile e senz’altro segreta, ma sempre percepibile e costantemente evocata. É da lì, infatti, che sgorgano due 'colate', come fossero flussi lavici di comunicazione possibile fra mondi: da un lato, un ambiente che ospita un live media in collaborazione con la band statunitense Sunburned Hand of the Man, articolato su quattro canali video; dall'altro, un substrato denso di sonorità, di musiche e di miscele alchemiche diffuso ininterrottamente e udibile negli interstizi di palinsesto del festival.
Invernomuto nasce nel 2003 dall’unione di Simone Bertuzzi e Simone Trabucchi, che si avvalgono della collaborazione di Davide Barbieri per gli aspetti musicali. Ponendo l’accento sul collasso e la commistione di linguaggi l’operato del gruppo si concretizza in produzioni fuori formato come il progetto editoriale ffwd_mag, ricerca che si espande nella produzione di video, nella progettazione di live-media performance e nella curatela di eventi e progetti speciali. Non si può parlare di Invernomuto senza parlare di musica. Musica hardcore, punk, hip-hop, destrutturata, elettronica, più o meno dance, eterodossa. Ma anche non occidentale, meticcia, fatalmente impura. La cosa davvero interessante di Invernomuto è però che quel territorio musicale -evidentemente di appartenenza e non solo di consumo - non è messo in scena o rappresentato nei suoi stereotipi visivi, nei suoi miti o nei suoi simboli. Invernomuto in quel territorio sta immerso, letteralmente inabissato. È da lì sotto che guarda al reale. E cerca di interpretarlo, raccontandolo con immagini nette e dissodandolo alla ricerca delle vicende più sghembe. E delle narrazioni più improbabili. Quelle ben nascoste nelle pieghe del paesaggio. È il paesaggio infatti il campo d’azione ed il movente di Invernomuto. Ed è lì che abitano quegli indizi che Invernomuto registra, espande e distorce facendoli risuonare dentro le proprie sequenze audio e visive. Invernomuto fa anche ricerca. Ma non è interna al proprio lavoro artistico. Anzi, ne ha talmente necessità che la stacca. Ecco perché, inspiegabilmente, si ostina a dare vita a ffwd_mag, il più lussuoso laboratorio di ricerca editoriale di indiscipline artistiche internazionali prodotto in Italia. Invernomuto ha partecipato a mostre collettive e festival internazionali, tra cui Italian Live Media 04 (Roma 2004), Domus Circular (Milano 2005), Cinema Infinito/Never Ending Cinema (Trento 2006), Netmage 07 (Bologna 2007, per cui ha curato l’immagine coordinata del festival e il progetto Bissera), Invisible Miracles (Viafarini Milano 2007) e la Biennale Architettura 11 (Venezia 2008, eventi collaterali, con Perspectives on Archive: Check-In Architecture). Nel 2007 ha preso parte alla residenza promossa dalla Dena Foundation for Contemporary Art, Parigi, in occasione della quale ha presentato l’installazione Fire Makes the House Grow. Sunburned Hand of the Man è una band-collettivo di Boston e di New York e che esiste dal 1997, dai membri superstiti della band punk bostoniana Shit Spangled Banner. Una delle caratteristiche di Sunburned è non avere una formazione fissa, reclutando musicisti a seconda di dove suonano. Le sonorità dei Sunburned Hand of the Man, considerati capofila di un possibile filone cosiddetto New Weird America, si traducono in fantasmi di rock lisergico, improvvisazioni urticanti, parole incomprensibili declamate in un'estasi aggressiva seminata di sequenze percussive vorticose e improbabili. Gli elementi extra-musicali, nel rituale sonico e performativo messo in atto on-stage, rendono gli show di Sunburned Hand of the Man un momento freak, sarcastico e regressivo al tempo stesso. Programmati dai festival più ricercati o diseredati dell’intero pianeta, illuminati di notorietà per gli apprezzamenti di Thurston Moore e la produzione da parte di Four Tet del recente album Fire Escape, i Sunburned Hand of the Man hanno alle spalle una densissima discografia, principalmente per Eclipse Records e per la propria etichetta Manhand.
