Rag Amritavarshini comes from the South Indian (or Carnatic) tradition. This rag is supposed to bring rain. This performance combines south indian violin with north indian tabla. It starts with alap, the slow unaccompanied invocation of the rag, on violin, followed by a composition in a 16 beat time-cycle.
