What did you film this with?
  • Ro Tierney plus 6 months ago
Hi Mike - I used a Canon 60D with a Sigma F2.8 80-200 lense and edited in Final Cut Pro 7

    Fantastic. Great result.

Very cool. I was down there just last weekend trying my hand at my first time-lapse! Would have been even more amazing with the snow falling during it. :) Very well done.
  • Ro Tierney plus 6 months ago
Thank you - yes I considered a time-lapse today instead but thought it was better to capture people's reactions instead. What a great experience!

I never have seen snowing. It's so funny watching the snow through the eyes of other people: to some don't matter the weather n' another, play with the snow and smile while see how drop to the floor.

    Great job.

This video made me so HAPPY - Coming from Canada, where we took it for granted after the first day every year, it's SO magical to see snow fall through the child-like eyes! Thank you for capturing the essence of joy! It made me so proud to share this video with all my friends - Well Done Ro! :-) Thank you!

The slo-mo works surprisingly well in FCP. I wouldn't have expected it to be so smooth from a DSLR. Good to see some happy people in the world for a change.
  • Ro Tierney plus 6 months ago
Yes I filmed it at 50fps and slowed it down to 24 in post. I feel it achieves the most natural slo-mo effect
  • Transforming Images 6 months ago
Nice to know this. Stuck in FCP6, saw the slo-mo improvements/ease of use as reason why should've upgraded to 7, but, dollars not handy, so now lost & unable to make jump to X ....

This was great. I'm usually to lazy to comment but this was so good I couldn't resist. People shots can often be so interesting and you really captured some unique moments here. Music was perfect too.
  • Ro Tierney plus 6 months ago
You may notice some of the shots were quite shaky - this was a mixture of adrenaline and haste :-)

It's refreshing seeing the joy and wonder brought by a small meteorological mishap. Being from a place where we spend much of winter hating this stuff and dealing with its inconveniences, it gives me great perspective.
