good tutorial. another thing to note: Make sure you have OIS turned off on your camera if you are using the letus. If not, you will see the camera shift the image causing the rectangular letus frame to come into view when there is camera movement.

What follow focus, and gear is that?
  • Eric Laplante 11 months ago
It's the Red Rocks follow focus with their gear adapters.

    nice....wish i had one....:D
may i ask some question ?

    1. what lens do use use ? is nikon af-d or nikon AI ??
    2. with letus and nikon lens, is the focus automatic or manual?

    thanks,..:)

The only Nikon lens you can use (from a practical point of view) need a manual iris ring...most dslr lenses do not have them.

Regardless of any auto functions a still lens may have, the moment you put it on a Letus (or any other 35mm adapter system), it becomes completely manual.

Of course, now the new Red Rocks adapter allows you to put digital Canons on their updated rig.

man I love the ultimate adapter. I feel like the fast reliable customer service of letus direct is the best part about their products.

    Is he pronouncing letus correctly???

I guess I don't really know, but I always thought it was pronounced like LEEEETUS.... maybe not though...
  • Eric Laplante 9 months ago
I'm pretty sure that's how its pronounced...got the pronunciation off the Letus Direct site.
  • Mahmut Akay 9 months ago
Yeah everyone seemed to have thought it was pronounced LEE-TUS, but it is LE-TUS.

What kind of lighting were you using on the test footage? Soft boxes?
  • Eric Laplante 4 months ago
For the interior shots: Diva lights...a Kino-brand light. For the exteriors: the sun.

    Hey Eric,
now that the red rock allows Canon digital lens do you prefer it over the Letus?
Very interested to know your thoughts on this. :)
    Best,
    Lance

i actually havent used the new red rocks yet. i wasnt a very big fan of the old one, but from what ive read, the glass is much much better in it. being able to use canon lens is a very nice feature to offer, particularly if you already have a number of those lens. among new products, ive joined the Canon 5D Mark II craze, and the last few projects ive done have been with that camera.
