Videonstallation, Kassel, Germany, 1995
The videoshots for "Mittagsstelle” represent an artificially created work situation in a junkyard. At lunch time greasy proof paper is shown. The camera takes a walk through the environment. The shots were manipulated by using a computer. The purposely chosen devices are operating with little performance causing low resolution and rhythmic movements of the takes. The video, set up in this manner is introduced in the installation as an endless-loop. These sequences are visible by a video projection onto the wall. On old table is set in front of the projection screen. A monitor is inserted in the table top, constantly showing a white screen. A video camera is installed above the monitor. If the visitor holds something over the screen, e.g. a hand, the silhouette of the hand is seen in the video projection on the wall. His contours are filled up by using a computer animation. This animation contains three three lined text sections appearing alternatively in horizontal slow motion.
