The Truth Will Set Them Free: An Evening with James McWilliams

Sponsored by Dun-Well Doughnuts (dunwelldoughnuts.com)

Join Our Hen House for a very special evening with environmentalist and historian James E. McWilliams, author of Just Food: Where Locavores Get it Wrong and How We Can Truly Eat Responsibly. With the world's food system teetering on the brink of disaster, and the health benefits of a plant-based diet reaching mainstream attention, a shift toward a less animal-centric diet is imminent. And yet, will the most compelling reason of all for changing our diets be left out of that conversation? What about the animals? The time is ripe for a worldwide shift in the relationship between humans and animals, but that can only happen if we can transcend the popular notion that animal rights advocacy is based in thoughtless sentimentality rather than rigorous science. Join us for a riveting discussion of how science-based arguments, rooted in the burgeoning body of knowledge regarding the extraordinary nature of our fellow earthlings, can help us continue the revolution in our relationship with animals that began with Darwin.
