Belfast, Maine has 17 public access points to the shore or river's edge, referred to as 'rangeways' from Colonial times. The community has begun to mark these with permanent art installations of split-rock gateways, with Allyn St. being the first.
The installations have been organized by Waterfall Arts, Centers for Art and Design, and made possible in part by the NLT Foundation, the Davis Conservation Fund, and the City of Belfast.
Produced for Waterfall Arts and funded in part by the Maine Arts Commission.
