SUCH a great idea!!! cant wait to get some.....one idea for future improvements could be to make it vertically versatile
  • Cinetics pro 5 months ago
Thanks for the suggestion! What do you mean by vertically versatile? You can run the system up a wall or vertical surface by hand. It would be cool to have a small rig that enabled this to happen more fluidly! Another note on the development list :) Thanks and please let us know if you were thinking of something different. - Justin
  • Simone Berger 5 months ago
Ya thats a great idea too! But mine was more in terms of the tripod itself. I think it would be cool to have it be able to change the height of the where the camera sits easily. This way you are not only shooting really low angle shots. Hopefully that makes more sense
  • Cinetics pro 5 months ago
Ah that makes sense. You can control the height by adjusting the GorillaPod Focus legs, but we are working to develop attachments that will make CineSkates compatible with both smaller and larger tripods. A spacer between the tripod and ballhead is a way to make the current rig higher but would effect stability if it was too tall. We're working on a few options to solve this issue. Thanks again!

Can you put on the Manfrotto quick release plate?
  • Cinetics pro 5 months ago
Hi Will, you can put just about any quick release on the setup. Pick up a set of CineSkates and a GorillaPod Focus and then add whatever ballhead and quick-release system you want. The BallHead X from Joby that is included in the CineSkates System uses the Arca-Swiss style quick release. Thanks for the question!

  • Yifan Yu 5 months ago
but what if i need to film something eye-level
  • Cinetics pro 5 months ago
Thanks for the question. CineSkates run on a surface, so you would need to do one of a few things to film at a higher level... you could run them on a counter or table, you could rig up an elevated surface (we've used wood and plexglass to do some interesting stuff without spending much money), you could use a column to extend the ballhead above the tripod (this one is tricky and will result in decreased stabilization), last we are working on brackets for other tripods that are taller than Focus. Hope this is helpful!
  •
  • Yifan Yu 5 months ago
does CineSkates could put on my normal tripod? also,if it could put on my monopod, it gonna be more useful.
  • Cinetics pro 5 months ago
CineSkates work only on the GorillaPod Focus currently, but we are currently working to create new versions for other tripods. What tripod and monopod do you use? We're continuously collecting data to plan which tripods we will design for in the future. Thanks!

Motorise one of those wheels and hello circular timelapses!

Brilliantly simple idea Justin. Bought one of the Gorillapod+ballhead units today for travel so it's good to know your cineskates idea exists. You're on a winner!

i read somehwer you might be getting a motorized upgrade. how would this work? im interested in the cineskate, but EVEN more if it can be motorized in the future
  • Cinetics pro 4 months ago
We are working on a motorized version that will be compatible with CineSkates. We're actually working on several new components for the Cinetics Connect system :)
  •
  • APEIRON FILMS 4 months ago
    Yes, motorize!

    The market niche closes quickly!

Keep it affordable and light weight!

  • unautre 4 months ago
    this is so clever...
  •
  • Joe Watts 3 months ago
No this is not clever not genius. you gotta think how limited you are always needing a flat surface. should just get a real slider! set up the tripod anywhere. there is really only one unique shot you can achieve with this product without a slider and that is when you spin it around in a circle which gets old can't really use that shot more than once in a video. think about it!
  • Cinetics pro 3 months ago
Hi Joe, the design is intended to give fluid camera motion in a portable package. You can put it in a small bag and pull it out to create arcing and linear tracking shots. Sure, there are limitations to its use, but a slider and tripod have their limitations also. I intended to build a practical tool that would expand filmmakers' creative possibilities, and I hope that CineSkates do that. Thanks for your feedback. - Justin
  • Joe Mountz 3 months ago
    Justin,
I'd have to agree with Joe. As someone who shoots weddings and other live events, you want to choose a shot based on what will look best, not rely on a smooth surface for every angle I wanna shoot. Maybe, just maybe, if the price was less expensive, it might be a cool tool to have in my arsenal. Also, considering this product was funded through kickstarter by private donations, it's upsetting this product isn't more affordable for the people who ultimately made the product possible
  • Justin Jensen plus 3 months ago
Joe, thanks for your comment. CineSkates are great at getting fluid tracking and arcing shots on a relatively smooth surface. Like any camera gear, they are not perfect for every shot. The CineSkates Kickstarter Backers received CineSkates at a discounted price. CineSkates are made with quality components that deliver quiet and smooth camera movement. I believe the capability, versatility, quality, and design make the product worth more than the cost and worth more than the more expensive competition. Thanks again for your feedback.
  • Joe Mountz 3 months ago
None the less, I appreciate your entrepreneurial spirit. good for you Justin.
  • Joe Watts 3 months ago
Oh yeah definitely and very well executed with kick starter! I just am trying to make sure people don't waste their hard earned money on products like this. If you feel you can use it to its advantages then go ahead but hopefully people think about it first. I've been in that situation where I have bought certain equipment that looks like an amazing idea but ends up useless!
  • Justin Jensen plus 3 months ago
Joe Mountz, thanks... appreciate it. We're hard at work building new components that will be compatible with CineSkates.
Joe Watts, thanks for your support! I appreciate your kind words.
