The wild western seaboard of Scotland. A landscape imprinted with the harshness both of the north Atlantic weather and the tragic modern history of its people. A place of blowing grasses, crumbling croft houses and lonely coves. It tells a story which stands as the profoundest metaphor for life. Where what is bleak is also beautiful. Where the wide indifferent spaces reinforce the comfort of the hearthside. And where the heavy sense of a lost way of life is balanced by the indomitable human spirit which continues on in such places.

This ten minute piece is a reflection on these themes inspired by the rugged landscape of the isle of Arran's northerly reaches and the haunting words of King Creosote's moving ballad "The Racket they made".
