This is a 3D animation short I created of my concept car design - the Cobra Venom V8. The car has been created as a spiritual successor to the classic AC/Shelby Cobra. More can be seen at the website: cobravenom.co.uk

    Hi Jamie,
Amazing work, I love the textured floor in the showroom. The extruded poly on the floor surface give it a great texture and the light coming off the floresents are nice. The rest of the animation is also amazing, great animation and movement. I may have liked to see more DOF use but that is here nor there. At the end I feel its too long, us could have made a one or two second dissovle to the sun and reveal the desert road way. then shown the logo.
Don't get me wrong the animation, modeling, lighting and rendering are amazing.

As for the render times could your clients have paid for a render farm. I use these all the time. Though my animations are 20 seconds for the most. So it ranges in the $400-$600 range. Yours look like $3000-$4000. Just a thought though.

Many thanks. This was a personal project I set myself to show the car I had designed in motion, so I wasn't able to have the luxury of a render farm, though I did have access to 3 different computer to render over a network. I discovered when adding motion blur in Cinema 4D that the DOF pass was overwritten, so I was unable to include this on the tunnel shots (except one shot where it was manually added). My original desert ending consisted of the 2 shots you mention, but I felt a single pan from sun to road felt more natural, and that's what I finally used. Also, this desert shot was intended to be a bit of an 'extra' - the 'escape' from the tunnel is the ending, and the desrt shot is just a brief glimpse of what the Venom V8 escaped to. :-)

I liked the pan down from the sun to the 2 desert road. The other shot I was talking about was the logo. It's very obscured. I was saying that dissolve could be quicker and which would naturally get you into the last shot quicker.

To repair the end quicker in terms of work flow I would render the last shot with multi-pass and composite in after effects. Much quicker workflow. May take you only 1 or2 days complete that way versus Cinema.

I followed the W.i.p. on another forum, the animations are really well made, I like in particular the camera's movements...

Thanks Matteo. I felt the camera shake helps add an extra element of realism (without trying to overdo it)!

Lethal dose - I might have another play with the arrangement of the ending. I'd like to use light text/logo on a dark background instead. Also, perhaps I'll cut straight from the white-out of the tunnel exit to the sun/desert shot, and end with the logo screen.

Great short (it really looks and feels like a short)! Your rendering is awsome and the concept model is amazing. Congratulations! C4D at it's best.
