C&P Letterpress: 2 color job
A quick glimpse behind the scenes at Armato Design & Press. This shows part of the process of letterpress printing a custom designed wedding invitation. It is a 2-color design printed using photopolymer plates on a 108-year-old Chandler and Price old style letterpress.

2 years ago I still don't understand how the impression is made. Can you explain a little further? -
Armato Design 2 years agoLetterpress is a relief-printing process. The areas of the printing plate that carry the ink (the text, for example) are raised surfaces. The plate is then pressed into the paper with hundreds of pounds of pressure leaving the printed areas recessed into the paper. -

2 years ago Right, I was actually curious about the plate itself, because I have only seen metal sorts, but I found some information online regarding the photopolymer plates. Thanks! -
