Doing a bit of reverse engineering with a mesh object?
One way to get a set of profile curves is to use ExtractMeshEdges turn the mesh into lines. You can then use the SelBrush command to select and remove the unwanted lines. Use the SelChain command to select the lines, Join the profiles, Rebuild or otherwise fix up the curves, and Loft.
