these videos are how I see the world.
I live in a world where it is really hard to sit through a whole movie in one sitting. I like to see more than one image at once, a bombardment of images. This is how the world works these days.

For example: In this video, not only is one part of

1a man walking/
2 an alligator talking/
3 a smoker stalking,

it is all three of these at the same time! In this way, these are very much micro stories which (loosely) connect to each other, but perhaps mostly in my own mind.

It is a stream-of-conscious double image animation.

    Awesome!

Could you tell something about your workflow? I always find that hard to imagine with animation. Do you animate by hand and scan it all? Or work with the computer from the start?
  • dax norman 10 months ago
Hi All, Thanks for the nice comments.

Robin: for this particular piece, I used an old version of adobe photoshop to do all of the drawings, and a program called premiere elements for the editing. I worked on it totally from the computer, mostly using the layers in photoshop to check things.

Very interesting juxtapositions of and transitions between the various contrasting images; also enjoyed the increasingly frequent uses of and flipping between "positive" and "negative" spaces in the images. Very cool stuff!
