The audio for this project was mostly recorded on a Zoom H2. The director worked alone and set the recorder where she thought it would work best. It's often in the frame - on purpose. The quality of the raw sound was mostly very good but when it was bad it was very challenging to work with. There were no opportunities for re-takes or ADR.
The most difficult scene was one in which the subject was interviewed in his tent-workshop. The wind is blowing, the tent is rattling and creaking and there is traffic noise.
The first release had far too much noise reduction applied to this scene. Although intelligible, it was unnatural sounding.
This remix is noisy but a lot cleaner than the raw audio and not as distracting as the first release.
