While this might be obvious to the rural folks, it came as shocking to me during my visit to Ukraine. There's a trick that you can use when you're chopping wood if the log is particularly intense and the axe gets stuck.
You lift up the whole shabang and then slam down the wood + axe onto the chopping block with the axe butt down. The wood blows up!
Neat huh?
