"A brilliant detective tries to solve the case when a man is found brutally murdered in his business partner's warehouse."
Originally created as part of the 48 Hour Film Project (48hourfilm.com), this is a final edit that was not screened for the festival. The project began at 7pm on a Friday night when we were handed our genre (Detective/Cop), character (Nick Anders/Electrician), prop (recycling bin) and line of dialogue ("Do I look like a computer?"). We then had 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a 4-7min film containing those elements to be turned in at 7:30pm Sunday.
As one would have expected, there was not enough time to do a full-quality edit as we had hoped. The festival version had the same cuts, however this version has been color corrected, graded and re-scored. Also due to time constraints, the screened version had no credits. Hats off to Adobe Premiere CS5 because it held up like a champ and never let us down.
Shot on a Canon 7D and T2i, the whole piece was wrapped by 12:30am Sunday after a 17 hour day. However actually shooting was only about 14 hours as the script and blocking were still being finalized Saturday morning.
It was a positive experience and cannot wait to compete again next year! But next time, I'll make sure we have more than one editor or shooter!
