Loyola University New Orleans biology professor Patricia Dorn, Ph.D., discusses her recent research on "kissing bugs" and their link to Chagas disease, which destroys heart muscle and is the fourth-leading cause of death in Latin America. It is estimated that 300,000 people are infected with Chagas in the United States. Most of them are immigrants from Latin America and have no idea they are infected.
