Huntingtin is an important protein in Huntington's Disease, a genetic neurodegenerative disorder. In this disease, Huntingtin is cleaved by the protease Caspase-6. The resulting fragment activates more Caspase-6 and localizes to the nucleus. Apoptosis eventually occurs as a result of this pathology.
