    very nice and welcome back.

    did you use smoothcam?
  • matthew carrozo 11 months ago
hey blake :) good to be back.

yeah, on a few of the shots its noticeable, but was also using the hague minimotion stabiliser on a fair few shots.

couldn't balance my new raynox 6600 wide angle lens on the damn thing tho, so handhelds are wide, tracking ones not.

btw, loved your indiana jones "cover" !

Beautiful! Did anyone come out to listen?
  • matthew carrozo 11 months ago
no, unfortunately double-paned glass windows and generally disinterested elderly neighbours meant no one really cared.

can't wait to see you one-up me with the HV30!

"new" job is now 9 months in, going well, pretty cool working on the biz side of video, but what makes me stay up all night is the creative side!

    happy new year xx

thanks - it was originally 2 minutes longer, but lingered far too much!

cool video! i really like the lighting, was it all natural and you configured the camera for no gain? or did you have some off camera lights?
  • matthew carrozo 11 months ago
hi adam! the lighting is literally just the streetlamps. camera was on cinemamode, 25fps, nothing else. there was some minor colour correction to sharpen the greens a bit, but otherwise all pretty natural.
  • Adam Weber plus 11 months ago
    cool, thanks for the info!

Awesome video Matthew! Can I ask how you recorded the sound? It sounds great...
  • matthew carrozo 11 months ago
i did my very best elmer fudd impression and held very still next to the guitar on the bench before filming all the cutaways - the 3rd shot after the pan down from the moon is the take with the audio, so just the top mic on the hv20! do want to get a directional mic next though.

I looked at a hague minimotion stabiliser's video demo on you tube,it's an amazing not too expensive, not big system, that seems to work very well (once equilibrated....)

    This HAGUE stablizer looks great.
Matthew, did you have any problems with calibrating it?
  • matthew carrozo 10 months ago
huge problems! its a facking nightmare to be honest with you, especially when the viewfinder is open and you have a wide angle lens on it (it actually won't work properly at all - any steadicam stuff you see here is done without the raynox lens...)
  • matthew carrozo 10 months ago
it also doesn't move vertically once set up - if you're really after the steadicam thing, id consider investing a bit more money into the next model up. i'm considering it.
