This second experiment of Augmented Reality (AR) was done by using a better textured CG model with occlussion pass (done using Renderman for Maya). This adds another layer of details and provides more believable 3D augmented objects.

Although need to be noted, the lack of interaction with real world lighting, lack of shadow and diffuse, lack of reflectivity and other material attribute such as Subsurface Scattering, proven to be a challenge.

To get a true 3D realistic augmented object that behaves as if it is appear to be in real world will be a big challenge, but not impossible because the technology is already here. While on the other hand, we should think about possibility of how we could take this technology further. Even at this basic level. Maybe Google Map kind of application in real world? Maybe a virtual music room or even an extension of TV.

Further on, I also noted in this little experiment:
1. Marker needs to be clear, lit properly and in focus at all time. Lighting plays a big role. Marker works best under sunny light condition.
2. Lens focusing of camera (how wide or long) matters. In the ARtag demo software, the software may only best for certain close up distance.
