A short video of my two year old son Konráð.

Shot with Canon 5D Mark II and a Canon 85mm 1.2L lens.

The white balance is strange in some of the shots because i was experimenting with it.

Everything is shot with ambient light only.

    really lovely.

fyi, we have a reconvert button now in the settings so you don't have to reupload it ;)

    That feature is awesome.

Where is that button? I don't see it on the settings page for my videos. Does it appear only if the video isn't already HD?

It should show up after your quota week is over.

Cute. How do you pronounce his name?

My sister has a birthmark like his...right above her right eye. The family talked about removing it, but decided we'd leave that up to her when she got older. She's 12 now and hasn't decided to get it removed yet. (:

nice. Got a bit noisy at about 1 minute.
I really enjoyed the swing squeaking after a sequence of shots with almost no background noise. Cute kid too!

Blake Whitman: That's great! Vimeo just keeps getting better.

awgATLjmf: It's pronounced "kon-'routh" or somthing similiar to that ;)

Dylan: There wasn't any cc or post in this one, other than editing.

    Thanks for the comments all.

Very nice work! Love the music as well. Did you say who it was?

I can't believe a DSLR can do that quality of stuff. To bad I'm a Nikon user:(
  • Trin 11 months ago
People have to put together some pro looking stuff with Nikon's D90. As a video camera it is far from perfect, but it suits me just fine. Not to say that I wouldn't kick the 5D out of bed for eating crackers!

Great shots, and especially nice for a "test."

Does the camera record sound, or did you record it on another device and sync it?

    Great video!
Is there any way I can get my hands on the music in it??!?!
    Thanx!

  • Gunnar, what makes this art and not a home movie is your wonderful screen direction, cropping, the way you frame things and razor DOF. If felt like an indepenent movie. Well done.

Thank you all so much for the comments.

The music i used is a song called "Pure" and frankly, i don't know who the artist is. Sorry. When i find out, i will let you know.

The sound is all straight from the camera, nothing is added.

Canon may as well just put this video on their website to sell the 5d. It looks truly fantastic. Beautifully shot and cut too. I really like the shots that deliberately show off the short dof such as the shot when your boy swings in and out of focus. Very surprised that the audio is recorded with the on-board mic.

Really cute and well done overall. But his skin gets weird around 01:48-01:53, in the shadows, mostly around neck and face. Bad compression artifacts. Kinda disturbing on a technical note, not from you but for the camera.

Wonderful artistry and story-telling. I just purchased the Canon XLHD and am wondering if the 5D Mark II might have been a better investment for short clips like yours.

Your son looks like the resurrection of mine (now 29), so your video was also strangely nostalgic for me. My son didn't speak Icelandic, but otherwise, I could swear they're twins.
