Two years ago, a friend's fiancee passed away. She is trying to raise funds for an arts endowment in his name; it will provide scholarships for teens in Los Angeles to pursue the arts.
In this video, I am performing Robam Apsara. I have stripped away the skin-colored leotard and skirt. Although this may seem radical, in ancient days, Cambodians were known to bathe naked in public with no mention of shame at all. Also, when looking at temple carvings, both men and women are presented topless (and sometimes pants are barely noticeable). I am chasing a tradition older than contemporary practice and social norms.
The music cut off in the middle. I cut the dance off early.
