Amy Khoshbin's "Dream Squawk" illustrates an approach to design wherein the activation of the technology is built directly into the costume the performer will be using during the performance. The performer’s mask contains a microphone and controls for voice effects. Design hurdles here include maximizing performer mobility, ease of putting on and removing the costume, as well as the marriage of robust controls with movements natural to the character without compromising aesthetic decisions.
