    Everything is Jitter with the exception of the bloom/glow effect which I added in FCP later. I was surprised how organic it felt, having struggled for ages with other far more complicated AI-based flocking mechanisms. Sometimes simplicity wins...

    So the 3D movement is entirely the result of the noise, and there's no flocking/boids code here? Impressive. I guess it's a perlin-type noise algorithm.

    Yes, there's no AI / boids / flocking behaviours involved. It doesn't have quite such an immediately 'intelligent' look as more complex simulations, but is far easier to put together, and seems faster to execute.
