Finding a new deer lichen in my area is worth documenting for me. If you like lichens, and would like to see what I found in Camp Helen State Park, NW Florida by the Gulf of Mexico (called the panhandle) in December, 2008, then this movie is worth a look. No transitions, sound, or fancy editing. What's worse, no tripod - shaky handheld. This is hardcore lichen, tentatively identified as Cladonia prostrata. In my seven years of exploring the woods in this area, I've never seen these lichens before. There are great fields of deer lichen though. Perhaps 2009 will bring more.
