STORY: It's 1949. Claude Green, a Newsreel narrator, has given up his North Atlantic life for the dream of becoming a singing cowboy, but his journey on the flying boat "City of Cardiff" forces him to become a western hero before he ever reaches the wild and woolly west: he finds romance, conflict with card sharp Phoenix Phil, and gets christened a cowboy by the most unlikely person possible. Can he face down a gang of gamblers to become a real man and win true love?
This film was photographed on the Short Solent flying boat "City of Cardiff", which masqueraded as a Pan Am Clipper in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". The plane is on exhibit at the Oakland Aviation Museum... (oaklandaviationmuseum.org),
...without whose splendid cooperation the film would not have been possible. Contact them about tours of the plane, and sit in the same seat as Phoenix Phil...or slum it by sitting where Indiana Jones did.
This 2011 edition of the film features numerous technical improvements, a new visual effects shot, and additional musical cues composed specifically for this version.
