EXCERPTS FROM INTERVIEWS - About HIV/AIDS & Gay Rights in India
For the first time in India, 20 LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) persons in four cities open up in a candid manner to offer an inside view into their lives, views and accomplishments in PROJECT BOLO, meaning 'Project Speak Up'. These in-depth video interviews walk us through their lives - their growing up years, sexual explorations, coming out to family/friends/media, their romances and relationships, their fearless career paths and their pioneering accomplishments.
This 12 min film Bolo - Sexuality and HIV/AIDS weaves together excerpts from these interviews about how HIV/AIDS has impacted the LGBT community, the stigma and discrimination faced by LGBT persons at hospitals / clinics, lack of awareness and information, the pioneering efforts of activists and CBOs (community based organizations), government's support and initiatives and the journey from a sense of total despair and hopelessness to a sense of inclusion and availability of care and support now.
