Well done on a critique of the pre credit crunch economic system.
Now comes the politics of the possible - next time please explore solutions more systematically. The only positive suggestion I heard was about the advantages of Islamic banking.
Perhaps an exploration of a new banking system that includes environmental and social costs/benefits as well as monetary ones.
Also, how could this be presented positively to democratic electorates who are not yet convinced , but know the present system has profound weaknesses.
I would like the next film(s) to look at the following:
1) We can feed the world if we want to
2) Our money and compound interest system creates the imperative to grow exponentially over time and so a) people need to speculate to generate the returns required on debt, which leads to more volatile and unstable financial systems i.e. see "credit crisis", and b) an exponential growth in the money supply leads to excess money in the system to buy more and more resources. This can be solved by something akin to the Islamic Banking system which needs to be explored at a basic level for people, complementary currencies and a whole host of other ideas.
3) Growth cannot solve poverty given the way our economic system is structured i.e. we need a new approach to poverty reduction
4) We need to re-define economic growth so that it includes other forms of development that do not measured currently i.e. well-being and Gross National Happiness
I look forward to speaking to you again soon.

In the end, it will all collapse, and we will be exactly where these discussions tell us we should be. Back to Nature, and living independent of these arbitrary systems.
A good movie, thank you.
>> False excuse : the absence of budget does not excuse the lack of narrative ;o) Planning and preparing is specifically the one thing that does not require budget but only time... ;o))
But the subject is good and the treatment quite proper, though i think there are too many "fade to black"...
For your information there is a political movement called "Degrowth" ("Decroissance" in french or "Decrescita" in Italian) that pushes toward reducing the needs of western countries in order to allow other countries to reach a minimum of confort. Otherwise there will not be enough ressources for everybody. But this requires that we first redistribute wealth in western countries (no one should have 2 houses or 2 cars, while some have none, and no one should earn 20 to 700 times the minimum wage while some are jobless...) and reorganise the activities to insure full employment (and not just full profit)... i.e get out of capitalism and invent a new model based on self-responsability, sharing and human relations with a legislation according to these values... It's a shift of vision : now that we finally acknowledge that the ressource on earth are limited, (wich means growth cannot be eternal) , we cannot use capitalism as a system because capitalism is based on the neverending quest for profit, i.e. ressource use...
