“LOVE IS AN ABUSED TOPIC” PROJECT
SEVEN LOVE LETTERS & RELATED OBJECTS

concept:
The critic is more a comment on how people, in the contemporary society (Europe – North America), live the relationships through a virtual reality.
Especially talking about feelings, we are scared to live, to lose, to risk, so we prefer, most of the time, to skip, to let things go, to avoid thinking and to avoid facing facts.
It is as well, a personal and political statement against the brainy, aseptic, decorative, politically correct conceptualism.

Waiting for an answer
The video is the sound-video-track that accompany the whole process.
The video includes as well the drafts and the poems.
It rapresent the long, exhausting moment while the lover is waiting for the answer (to his/her love) that is not coming and that will never come.
The shots are taken in a demi-stillness session of 90 minutes.
The face is a landscape of emotions going through the mind and the skin of the subject.
Pain, sorrow, desire, constriction but sometimes even a little laughter for a memory that’s crossing quickly.

The relationship between “ME” & “ME”
HAND WRITTEN, it describes the first step of having an impulse, an idea so it is not filtrate by prejudices at all.
THE REAL SELF: Personal, pure, original, overwhelmed, exaggerated, passionate, irrational, romantic, melodramatic, emphatic, it can be ridiculous and pathetic but it’s always TRUE.

The relationship between “ME” & “YOU” (THE OTHER)
THROUGH A COMPUTER (virtual life-filter), it describes the “second step”, when the first impulse is gone but still warm. It is the moment when you DECIDE rationally what to write, what is good or not to be sent to the “beloved” subject. In a way, it is a mask.
THE MASK: clean, aseptic, formal, the sentences and some concepts are delayed from the draft, you’re still sincere but not completely and the printed or screen version, is totally impersonal compared with the hand written draft.

The relationship between “ME” & “THE OTHERS” (THE PUBLIC)
ART WORK, it is the result of the “real life” process.
It is sublimated BEAUTY. It is an elaboration of a drama, an exorcism.
It is officially celebrated because it is an art work. The public can take a distance from the personal life of the author and, for this reason, the public can interpret the work itself with its own filter.
Even if it is very deep and strong, it’s strength is nor ridiculous and pathetic.
The PARADOX is: Because it comes from a totally personal procedure, it becomes UNIVERSAL.
