To mark the bicentennial of the birth of Edgar Allan Poe: January 19th, 2009, this adaptation of Poe's dark and twisted tale of vengeance.

Shot on 35mm film, using only available light and in-camera special effects, including double-exposure on an adapted, hand-cranked, hand-held 35mm camera -- possibly a first, on a period costume drama!

    Thanks Wayne. Something of a departure from my usual MO. Shot on film, very little digital post production, almost all special effects done in-camera. Great work from Simon, the DP and especially the actors, Anton and Patrick.

    Bravo. Many an adaptation of Poe's tales are usually kitsch, but this is comparatively well done. You have maintained the dialogue throughout and even Fortunato's terrible cough. Well done.

    I just taught this story to my freshman English students. I asked them to create a storyboard on the short story. They turn in their projects next week. I can't wait to show them your beautiful adaption to illustrate how this story can truly unfold in film. Bravo!
