This film will show you how to perform a honey extraction. The honey is ready to be harvested when at least 80% of the comb of the super is capped. Only capped cells should be harvested since these are the only ones that contain pure honey.

24 hours before gathering the super combs for harvest, replace the queen excluder for the bee excluder. This will force the bees out of the honey supers and into the brood box, leaving the super frames free of bees allowing for easy removal.

Remove the super frames early in the morning, or late in the afternoon, and store them in sealed plastic bags well out of sight and smell of the bees.
