Every year on the first Saturday after Labor Day Alex Demas and the Lowell National Historical Park Service puts on an amazing family-friendly event at Boarding House Park in Lowell Massachusetts. Sept 10, 2011 will mark the 32nd Annual Banjo & Fiddle Contests.
The event is free and open to the public. Music workshops in banjo, fiddle, and dulcimer begin at 10am and the contest begins at noon. Show up early to register if you plan on competing in any of the categories such as bluegrass fiddle or banjo, old time banjo or fiddle, twin fiddle, ethnic banjo, banjo and fiddle or banjo other styles. Cash prizes, ribbons, and plaques are awarded in each of the main categories!
Most importantly, however, come to Lowell to meet the nicest bunch of people you can imagine and enjoy a glorious fall New England day in a beautiful setting. Watch the video from last year's event to get an idea of what to expect. If you can't make it this year, we'll see you next year at the 33rd Annual event :>)
