would have been even greater with a clean lens.....(( this i will correct... i really liked the dirty lens now since i have seen it a bunch of times.... its art))) but i really like ith.... constant pan... very artistic... same direction.... very thought full... thanks for the ideas
  • Jörg Brönnimann 10 months ago
the lense is not dirty, its the focus and some scratches...
  • J.D. de León 10 months ago
I disagree it would look better with a "clean lens" focus and scratches made it more interesting, I actually thought you had some kind of filter, or a glass. Very nice job.
  • Mark Rigler 7 months ago
Cool video, as soon as theres strong sunlight, a fisheye can look very dirty even if you've spent ages cleaning it.

Very beautiful ! What is the exact technique you used ?
  • Jörg Brönnimann 10 months ago
i used a old super wide fish eye lense and then i zoomed in and paned... ;)
    i filmed with a letterbox 720 x 576 and did some collercorections ( 5 min.) in fcp.
in some of the shots i used a " gauss filter " and some slowmotion.

i just started experimenting with a nice fish eye, thank you for sharing this jörg! works well together.

There are lots of squats around in the neighborhood I live in here in Berlin. This sonic treatment of such interior space certainly is a clash with the music one usually associates with imagery like this. When I watch it I can't help but think its like an ode to the reformed punk who's nostalgic about his old wild life... perhaps a bit saccharine...

Wonderful vid. I love how the viewer can build his or her own story about what might have happened in that place.
    Thanks - I loved it!

Love the way the words guide the visual imagination. Super way of perceiving the now moment with history.
  • Jörg Brönnimann 10 months ago
    thank you robert!
it might be interesting, what kind of storys, feelings and pictures go on in the hearts and heads of the different viewers...!

Another video that made me think. For me the house became a metaphor of someones interior life, their head, the residence of their personality. The images and music reminded me of those I have known who are so self-congratulatory in their pursuit of living life "their way"... they claim to be "rebels", "originals", someone that is "so different"... and yet, once you get inside the door of their head you find that they are really no more than the sum of a thousand cliche's scribbled on the walls of their minds, they are counterfeit originals. Their mental house is in disarray... they are home to no one, not even themselves. Vacant souls open to whomever. They have allowed their inner self to be the canvas of others... rather than a unique portrait the canvas of their inner self is scrawled upon with rants, and disjointed raves from a thousand authors. Striving for individuality without first "owning who THEY are" they have become a cliche' and are now vacant of meaning. To these lost souls the phrase "My Way" becomes a painful irony. Thanks for this film Jorg!

Wow, Thaddeus, that's a very interesting reading of the video! Now you've made me think :) "A thousand cliches scribbled on the walls of their minds" GREAT sentence.

why do people write these negative idiotic comments
  • Reynold Funk 4 months ago
i think j meyer just made a negative comment to make one. it is needed not to call the product down but to have a touch with reality... for some it is amazing the others dont really care.... care enough to comment i take.

Very nice song-related emotion in this clip, and off course the man and the music itself. What more is there left to be said?
  •
  • magsterTV 10 months ago
I liked the very longest comment above...a thought-provoking movie. The chosen music made it ironic. I viewed the footage as what poets call a "found poem"--not composed, scripted, or acted--simply displayed as it was found and yet able to suggest a variety of meaning.

very nice vid, even better then original. Although you call it a parody, in my eyes this vid makes the music comes alive even more. Very nice done.

man, i just love this video. everything matches everything else so imperfectly, but it doesn't matter, because for some odd reason, it seems to all blend in. the smooth panning, the song, the emptiness and loneliness of the building. really inspiring video.

way on top we had the discussion about having it shot with a lens what has no scratches on the focus... i would now have to change my comment and say... That is what made it beautiful.

Another one with an eye for detail and a mind full of thoughts...
I was ambivalent in the beginning, but as it moved on, and the music hit it, everything changed. I had to give it time to sink in...

so lens dirtiness art or distraction?

Jörg.. Your work grabs me and I tend to enjoy the inner workings of your mind.. You seem to be a thinker and a story teller.. if one takes the time to ponder what you choose to display that is.. Your attempts with this clip tends to induce feelings via the subject matter and your music selection made me very curious..
