i never thought i would turn in to one of those people who dressed up their pet, but i kinda had to because of the extremely cold temps here in chicago. without the doggie gear, my pups won't poop on their walks, and the sidewalk salt hurts their paws.

anyway... i trained my little doggie Moz to act like a baby so i can dress him up.

this is another one for you maria. hee hee

lol orange rubbers on the feet. and i love that you're laughing, cause it made me laugh too.
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
i crack up every time! if i didn't train him to do this, it would be impossible for me to get him dressed for a walk by myself.

lololol OMG soooo cute --I love it!!!!! what a good boy - he is so sweet. I bet Deuce hates the gear? TOUGH IT! heheheh they will freeze and they need protection otherwise you'd have to wash the little paws everytime they go out - without the boots!!!! heheheheheh gonna watch again. I love how he just stays there while you tranquilize him with your soft touch heheheheh
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
i think he likes the attention and coddling. i don't mind giving it to him either. it's so cute. :)

Those should work 85-95% of the time, if used correctly.

How warm does that actually keep a dog? Have all kinds of studies been done?
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
the boots definitely work. before using the boots their little paws would get compacted with snow and salts.

not sure if there have been studies on the coats, but my little guy used to shake himself into a freeze pop. with the coat, we can walk around the block a couple times with no problem.

I like at 0:02 when you say "time to get dressed" he looks at you and then to the back as if to say "oh shit NO NOT THE COUCH" and then plays dead, praying it'll be over soon.
Those boots look handy though. do they stay on well?
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
i know. the poor thing! he has to put up with a lot of crap.

the boots are really really handy. they never fall off, which is great. they're throw-aways though, which i don't like because they're not environmentally friendly, but i've tried other velcro brands, and they always fall off and get lost.

  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
he is hilarious. he's a little ball of energy most of the time, but during this process, he gets stiff.

That was hilarious. I'm impressed that he stays so still for you!
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
haha! ben, you saw him when he was running around like a little maniac! this must be odd for you to witness.
  •
  • oh what a sweet sweet boy! how did you train him to do that?
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
i made a consistent routine. it goes a little something like this...

i pick him up and cuddle him.
with him in my arms, i get his jacket and boots and continue to talk to him softly to make sure he's calm and not totally freaked out. then i spread out the jacket on the couch and put him in it. i gave to keep talking and petting him through the process. sometimes i throw in a smooch or two. :)

he's a really high strung little doggie naturally. i'm amazed that i was able to get him to this point to be honest. but hey, i won't argue! in the past it was a pain in the ass because i couldn't even catch him to put his leash on. now the walking process is so much better without all the extra drama of running after him. hee heee.

i've been doing this new process for about a week (three times a day) and now he's totally comfortable with it. i think he kinda loves it now. :-D
  • well nice work loonaloo! :-)
  • ojo 11 months ago
    Ha! Loona lies!
she did it with an electro shocker (like a taser) short before, look at the dogs eyes that's pure fear. And by the way would you wear such ugly orange rubbers at your feet? (Even if they fit perfect to the puppies furr)
    ;-)
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
ah ha ha! so funny ojo. yeah... wait till we meet. i'm gonna try that shock collar on you. hahahaaaaaaaaa!

your dog is ADORABLE!!! is Moz a Silky?
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
Hi Claudia. Yes, he's a Silky. I have a Jack Russel, too! they're hilarious. You have two terriers right?
  • Claudia Robinson 11 months ago
yes we are terrier people! we had a Border Terrier and she died of old age...what an awesome dog!! our Parson Russell (Looie) is 12 now and as you can see he still acts like a puppy! the Norwich Terrier will be 4 in April. She is a very quirky, odd little dog but not as animated as the Looie! Gotta love the terriers!!!
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
awe! i love that. terriers are a cool breed. my jack is six and my silky is three.
  •
  • Buck Flashroy 11 months ago
Haha, that's amazing! He completely submits and doesn't move. I don't think either of our dogs would be that well behaved. Thanks for sharing!
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
you're welcome! I think I might have my Jack Russel almost at this point too. Once I get him there, I'll take a video of him. hahah. so sick! lolol

HAHA almost like dressing an infant at 00:16

Great video. Thanks for sharing this! I WANT A DOG!
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
    :-D

if you have the time, energy, and $$ having a dog is super awesome! otherwise it's a real pain in the ass. :)

i take them out three times a day. once at 7:30/8:00am, 4:00/6:00pm, then again at 10:00/11:30pm.

i work from home, so it's a lot easier for me. i went to an office, it would be hard. i think it depends on the doggie though. my terriers need tons of exercise (especially the jack russell) and attention. i'm sure other breeds don't require as much as the terrier breed.

but if you want a best friend, lots of unconditional love, lots of laughs, and a way to meet chicks (or dudes), a dog is grrrrreat!
  • Paul Davis plus 11 months ago
haha...I'm not allowed to "meet chicks" according to my wife...but, yeh, I've heard it works. ;)

sigh....I think we'll stick to cats for now.
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
    ooops! :-D

    dogs are total chick magnets.
  • Paul Davis plus 11 months ago
Yeh...but how often are you going to take them out to a park in this weather? I'd have to imagine most of the chicks are staying out of the weather.

The booties are hillarious btw. =D
  • loonachic plus 11 months ago
oh you'd be amazed. there's a dog park behind our place. lots of chicks out there. you just can't tell what they look like because they're all wrapped up in scarves and hats. heheheh.
  • Paul Davis plus 11 months ago

How does he do with the orange condoms on his feet ?
Should you not have a fifth one just in case he sees a sexy lady while on one of the walks and gets frisky ?
  • loonachic plus 9 months ago
    hi paul,

both of my dogs tolerate the foot condoms. it saves their little feet from the sidewalk salt between their little toes. they last a long time too!
