5. Marko Ahtisaari's speech about ‘Patterns of Human …
5 months ago
Five billion people have a mobile phone. Today, no single, technological device is more in our hands than the mobile phone – it has become the media through which humans interact.

Marko Ahtisaari is the global head of Nokia's design unit, and he is responsible for Nokia’s product and user experience design. During Copenhagen Design Week, Marko shared Nokia’s thoughts on how design will shape and influence the patterns of human interaction in the future at a Nokia event at Bella Sky Hotel.

the clock alarm ui is great,
best part i like is it tells me how many hours are left once i save the alarm .

but I really wished it can tell me instantly when I change the time, even before saving, the number of hours left for the alarm with the new set time.

People in cities on sidewalks, frozen with heads down, is a plague. I'm glad that somebody making smartphones is thinking about how to fix this. If you make it possible to text on a touchscreen while walking, I'll be impressed.

Glad to know that some teams have taken up this challenge and are delivering on it rather than resting on their laurels. Best Wishes to the N9 Team. As Marko says, yes, it is just the beginning of the things to come and as an user, I can't wait for it to see!

I disagree with Nokia solution being better than Apple’s or even Android's solution to get to recent apps. Marko forgot to mention that if you double press on the home button in iPhone or if you press and hold the home button on Android you get to the recent apps, how is that worse than swiping right… they provide the same functionality and they have similar discoverability issues.

Did you actually watch? He described it as pressing the buzzer on the front door twice and hopping on one leg between rooms. And then asked how many people had iPhones and how many used the double press.

The swipe UI doesn't involve pressing an external button to move between rooms and no double presses either. Much simpler and more consistency.
