What software was used? Was it just after effects with using the motion tracker? Let me know if you have any good plug-ins for motion tracking/face replacement.
I'd say the main difference between the projects is that this one has a budget and publicity.
And it's not a commercial product, it is a commercial (well made as it is, kudos).
I know Weezer has long lost all of their creativity and talent but to see them retreat back to their happy days by recycling, if not stealing, others work is pretty damn lame.
Great video, don't worry about all the haters guys everyone I know loves the Aphex Twinn and Basement Jaxx videos and all my mates think this is great too, for a little indie band you guys are going to do great. watch this space I see big things in the future for Pistol Youth.
Jason Drakeford you just contradicted yourself. 12 hours ago you said you loved it, now 3 hours ago your dissapointed? all you haters are wack. Especially haters that can't make up their minds whether to hate or not they don't even know what the hell they're saying. so what if someone else did something similar. Every concept in motionography can be argued that it is a piece from someone else who probably didn't think of it in first place, it's an endless cycle no one has been completely and utterly original since the beginning of the century, and of course saul bass. But as motionographers we make our own projects regardless of what haters may think. keep it up!
Hey Clint Enns, you may want to check out Pistol Youths myspace as I think you'll find they don't have any money as they are unsigned and pretty much made the album over the internet with guys from all over the world.
Plenty of bands have done very similar videos most with very big budgets, for small bands to be able to make such a good video is a credit to creative and talented people who love what they do, I haven't seen them saying they came up with this style of video since there are plenty of video's already out there using the same ideas, at the end of the day I see a cool video for a cool song and people should take it for that and not worry about who was the first to do it.
Really nice job.
