40. Dear Temple of Transition [Burning Man 2011]
*Watch full-screen with sound up!*

Dear Temple of Transition: I love you. You are the most beautiful human-shaped structure I have ever seen. It was an honour to serve you as a Temple Guardian. And when it came time for you to go, I couldn't watch you burn. Instead, I watched it in the eyes of others and I know what you meant to them. Thank you.

Nice work, Ian. Very moving with that track, too. I love watching videos from the playa set to non dance/bass music. For me it evokes the deeper feelings I had while being there. The gamelan really made it super special for me as well.

Great job Ian! I've been trying to describe the temple to one of my closest friends who hasn't been yet. This does what my words have not been able to do. Thank you so much for sharing this!

nice video! that Terence McKenna quote is actually from William Blake although Mckenna did use the term. He is actually heard using it, and quoting Blake in the Shpongle song '...But Nothing is Lost'
  • Ian MacKenzie plus 5 months ago
Aha! Thanks for the clarification - I thought it wasn't Terence but he came up most in the google searches...

The temple is a beautiful, heavy place. This one was off the charts. I lay on the ground absorbing the Tibetan bells. Thanks for documenting it with such sensitivity and grace.

Thanks, Ian. Got some sweet photos of it standing and later burning. One of the most powerful things I've ever been a part of. The silence while it burnt was the most powerful part.
  • Ian MacKenzie plus 5 months ago
Would love to see the photos!

The Temple was the highlight of Burning Man for me - my first Burn but not my last. It made me cry and filled me up. Thank you for making and sharing this; it has brought those feelings back to me a little.

Watching again for the 5th or 6th time. I didn't think video could capture the energy from the temple, but you've proven me wrong.
