100. Birds of Carmel

For my 100th video on vimeo I thought I'd do something special... like another 6 minute video of common birds. What's special is the animation that happens in the first 20 seconds. Here are the steps I used.
- Taking video of active birds is always something that hones camcorder skills (this was with a mini-DV, not an HD camcorder). I have lots more good footage from this session, but I made the video to fit the duration of the music.
- I captured the camcorder footage to 31 individual DV-AVI files, auto split by scene.
- As I was checking Virtual Dub and AviSynth to see if they worked in Windows 7... where they did fine... for a neat opening clip to the birds I selected one of the AviSynth scripts made by HitTheBongo. Using Virtual Dub I opened the script and made a 1080x720 HD sized video.
- Then I used Movie Maker 2.1 in XP to add title clips, a tune from Randon, and render it to an HD sized video using a custom profile for vimeo.
