My sound design set to Len Lye's 1958s film 'Free Radicals'. This was part of my Master's Project whilst studying at Bournemouth University. My aim was to experiment with basic shapes and images to see if there is any inherent relationship between certain shapes, movement and sound.

Lye created the images by scratching directly onto celluloid film with different implements. He originally synchronised the images to traditional African music (a field tape of the Bagirmi tribe), so I was keen for my sound to likewise be very synchronous with the images.
