Oh My God! My Father came to work as a bracero in those days but was too embarrassed to mention any of this. I am very sure that was the reason. I just now found out how he was treated, went to get my mom to come back to the US to that again? He is deceased already. Those ranch gringos sure were mean to the bone. Daddy and mom returned when mom was pregnant 7 months with me. I don't know if that made a difference the second time?

My name is Daniel Martinez and the photo on secrtion 25 of the video reel is a picture of me when I was a teenager, born and raised in Claremont, California. Most of the Mexican American teens worked along side the Braceros picking oranges and other fruit in California.
We also worked along side the German and Italian prisoners of war during WWII. (We were not braceros)
A short note about the Braceros: I wrote my Master's Thesis on the Bracero Program in 1956 at Claremont Graduate School and it will become part of the Smithsonian collection later this year.
The title of the thesis is "The Impact of the Bracero Proframs on a Southern California Mexican American Community: A Field Study of Cucamonga, California " by Daniel Martinez
