This competition dates back to the Clark kids childhood. Martha Clark (now grandma) challenged the family to see how long they could stand in the cold water of the creek. She won.
This is the renewal of that competition. Annie 'Clark' Payne talked us all into the creek for a renewal of family bonds.
Keep in mind this creek is
1. at very high altitude
2. probably less than a mile or so from where it melted
3. accordingly... bitterly cold
