Dan McLaughlin attempt's Malcolm Gladwell's 10,000 hour theory: You will become an expert after dedicating 10,000 hours to a certain subject.
McLaughlin wanted to do this with golf--something he had only done a handful of times beforehand. He speaks about his motivation to go on the PGA tour, which is the men's professional golf organizer, and also his frustrations with putting in so much time, but not necessarily becoming instantly better.
Portland Monthly asked for an online video to accompany the feature story in the print magazine. I shot and edited everything in the video.
